Selegiline has attracted a great deal of interest from anti-aging advocates, those seeking to enhance cognitive processes such as concentration as well as gaining traction among the fitness community. The common link between these tends to be its ability to boost dopamine, a key neurotransmitter associated with pleasure and motivation.
Selegiline is widely used and in general its side effect profile makes it a common option for treating neurological disease but as ever, a patient should discuss possible side effects with their doctor as certain drugs are contraindicated when using Selegiline.
Selegiline is usually prescribed as a treatment for Parkinson's or depression.
Dosing is very much individualised with this drug with the doses used for different patients often differing by a factor of ten or more. Regardless of the dose, daily dosing is generally common as is dosing in the morning to try to mitigate wakefulness. Always refer to product literature.
