Manufactured by Bayer, Progynova is the trade name for the drug estradiol valerate, one of the many drugs which comprise female hormone replacement therapy (HRT). Progynova is a naturally occurring hormone classed as an estrogen. Progynova is considered far more potent than natural estrogens and it binds to estrogen receptors throughout the body leading to a feminising effect in target sites such as the breasts, uterus, skin, liver, bone and the brain to name only a few.
Progynova produces a wide array of effects throughout the body where estrogen receptors can be found. It will promote the growth of the breasts, uterus, lead to a more feminine deposition of bodyfat, improve skin health and has effects on mood and sexuality to name just a small portion of its effects. For women struggling with menopause it can improve quality of life significantly by restoring their bodies to a state which is similar to before they undergo menopause.
Progynova is used principally in HRT although it is also used occasionally in contexts as diverse as hypogonadism and for transgender women.
Progynova is typically dosed at one 2mg tablet daily but always defer to the recommendation of your doctor as dosing may vary based on a number of factors. Always refer to product literature.
