Cyclo-Progynova is a hormonal medicine manufactured by German pharmaceutical giant Bayer and is part of a group of medicines used in hormonal replacement therapy (HRT). The product is marketed by Meda pharmaceuticals. Cyclo-Progynova comprises of two distinct drugs, estradiol, a type of estrogen which is to the body's own estrogen but with more potent effects, and norgestrel, classed as a progestogenic hormone, similar to the progesterone produced in the body.
During menopause women often suffer with hot flushes, mood swings, night sweats, loss of libido and other conditions that can make life intolerable for many. Cyclo-Progynova works by replacing the hormones lost during menopause and thus reducing or eliminating these types of symptoms.
Women who go through menopause are the ones for whom Cyclo-Progynova is used for. Theoretically, as with any combination of estrogen and progesterone based hormones, Cyclo-Progynova could be used in other situations such as preventing pregnancy or for transgender reassignment but this is not a standard medicine for those use cases.
In common with most medicines, the ultimate arbiter of how to take Cyclo-Progynova will be your physician's own recommendations. With that said, Cyclo-Progynova is typically taken once a day with the strip detailing the starting day. Always refer to product literature.
